Throughout the year (January-December 2022), the Graduate School will celebrate the milestone 100 -year anniversary of our founding, honoring past accomplishments and looking forward to the future of graduate education at Penn State.
100 YEARS OF EXELLENCE
In 1922, President John Thomas established the Graduate School under the direction of Dean Frank D. Kern. President Thomas selected Dr. Frank D. Kern, head of the Department of Botany, as the first Dean of the Graduate School.
